Cheap, Discount Snowboards

Buying cheap or discount snowboards doesn’t necessarily translate into buying poor quality boards.  Many of the leading brand names such as Rossignol, Forum or Burton produce good quality lower priced boards.  Many companies purchase very large quantities of boards in order to get the lowest price. They then pass on these saving to the customer.  These purchases are sometimes called loss leaders because, even though they may be sacrificing a bigger profit on a snowboard, they know that once you are in the store you will probably purchase something else that will hopefully make up the difference.  Cheap and discount snowboards can save you a lot of money - if you're careful.

There is another great thing about cheap and discount snowboards. Many shops will offer terrific prices on last years models.  So if you don’t really care about waiting until the next season you can get the board you want at a much lower price.  There have not been a lot of advancements in the production of snowboards, so unless the most current graphics and colour are important to you, not waiting an extra season for the board you want can really pay off.

One last thing, before purchasing your cheap or discount snowboard - check that the board is of good quality.  Things to look for are a wood core with several layers of materials, metal edging all the way round the board and no holes in the board where the bindings show.  Don’t compromise on the size of the board: make sure it is the right one for your height and weight.  Cheap is only good if it fits and the quality is not compromised.
